High mountain tea

High mountain tea (高山茶}) refers to any tea grown in the alpine tea zones, higher than 1000m above sea level in Taiwan. One reason for such teas to be preferred is the belief that the air at this altitude is less polluted.

Taiwan's unique island geography - high mountain ranges at its center with high humidity and natural precipitation - makes it a most suitable environment for growing tea.
