Hokumei is a 1967 developed cultivar from Saitama Tea Experiment Station. The clone was selected from seedlings crossed between Sayamamidori and no. 5507. It was in 1994 registered as Norin No.43 and named Hokumei. Compered to Yabukita, its harvest time is six days later but it has higher resistance to pests.
