Irish breakfast tea is a blend of mostly black Assam teas. Due to it's malty and strong tase is Irish breakfast tea usually served with milk and is often drunk in the morning. The tea has a strong flavour and is higher in caffeine than other teas like green or oolong teas. Despite the term "breakfast tea", it is drunk throughout the whole day. When brewed, the tea varies in colour from very dark red to brown. Irish breakfast tea can be bought as loose leaf tea or in tea bags with huge variation in quality.
