Earl Grey is no longer only a blend of Chinese teas but also from others. Also the typical bergamot flavor comes today in most number of traditional remedies still alone of natural bergamot oil, instead, nature-identical flavoring is often, especially within cheap teas, added.  So you can find today and even green Earl Grey Earl Grey mixed with a (fine) smoke flavor.
