Fujimidori (ふじみどり) was originally labeled as Shizu-7224 and registered in 1953. Fujimidori acquired its current name in 1962 due to its distinctive deep green color, marking its recognition for unique qualities in the world of tea. It is a cross of Yabukita (mother) and a unknown cultivar. Some belief it is an Assam variety due to Fujimidoris thick leaves.
