Kirari 31 (きらり31) is a new cultivar that was registered in 2015 and has already found wide distribution. It is often considered a serious candidate for a new standard alongside Yabukita and Saemidori. This variety is the result of crossing Sakimidori and Saemidori. It was developed at the Miyazaki Research Centre and is mainly highlighted for its qualitative and not so much functional aspects (resistance, robustness, etc.). This cultivar i suitable senchas and shaded teas with a high theanine content like Gyokuro or Tencha.
