Gushu

Gushu (古 树), literally "old tree", is the tea sourced from ancient trees thriving without significant human intervention, stands out as the premier category within Pu-erh teas. Recognized for its intricate flavors, Gushu Pu-erh is celebrated for its depth, often featuring distinctive camphor or "mint" notes—a reflection of the lush camphor trees coexisting with the wild tea trees. Young raw Pu-erh teas, derived from the tender leaf tips of these ancient trees, exhibit a notable absence of the overpowering astringency typically associated with young tea bushes (Taidi or Shengtai). Notably, Pu-erh crafted from the unique, closely related wild species Camellia taliensis commands a premium over its more common Camellia sinensis counterparts.
